4 in 1

Just under a year ago, I posted a photo exhibiting our great use of space (parking space, that is).  More recently, our conservation skills have improved.  We've been keeping an eye on Adam's Honda Shadow while he's off sailing around Catalina and other harbors north of here, so the three of us had been sharing a spot up until the other night...when Ben was at school and the guy with the white KLR snagged Ben's spot in front of Thin Mint.  So Ben did a little shifting and shuffling and this is what he came up with.  Now, how is this for conservation?

Sunset Row: April 10, 2010

Last night we went on a sunset row... We left a little early so we didn't actually catch the sunset. I took the first leg... ALMOST made it to the end of the mooring field before I gave up. The current was a little too strong for me!

We got off the ball today for the first time in a month.  The deadline for our Coast Guard Vessel Safety Check was looming so we headed over to the dock and circled around for too long while we waited our turn with all the other procrastinators.  (We tried to get the inspection the last time we went sailing, but were unable to recognize our new registration card which was disguised as an insurance card.)  We passed the inspection without a hitch so we're good to go for another year.  Between this and finishing my taxes, I'm feeling like this has been a rather productive weekend!

Sunset Row: April 6, 2010

Every now and again, the three of us take a row out past the mooring field to watch the sunset. I figured it might be fun to post a picture or two (or three...) from our sunset rows. After all, sunsets are like snowflakes... no two are alike.

Spring Break Continued...

When we returned from Vegas on Thursday, Ben finished switching out our energy-sucking halogen spreader lights with these new energy-efficient blue LED lights.

Then Ben's cousin Ken arrived from Colorado to spend a couple days with us on the boat... Our very first overnight guest aboard Mother Culture!

Vegas, Baby!

This week is spring break for us and we were hoping to sail out to the Coronados for a few days.  Unfortunately, the weather forecast didn't cooperate.  So we hopped in the car and drove to Vegas instead.  We stayed three nights at the Mirage, did a lot of walking, enough drinking, and even a little gambling.  I also got to see my first Cirque du Soleil show, Mystere, at Treasure Island (and unfortunately no cameras are allowed at shows)!  This trip was special because it was Lola's first time in Vegas.  It turns out we spotted four other dogs during our trip.  Not a very dog-friendly city, but we had fun anyway.  Check out our pics here: Las Vegas
